Ash Content Analysis

OES Chemical Analysis
Ash content analysis is used to determine if a material is filled. If filler is present the test will identify the total filler content. Ash testing involves placing a weighed sample into a dry crucible and burning away the polymer using our muffle furnace. Temperatures are typically above 500 degrees Celsius. The crucible is then weighed after it has been cooled to room temperature. Any residue remaining is considered filler unless it is less than or equal to 1%. Any residue that is less than 1% is considered an additive.
Using our muffle furnace we have the capability to test for:
  • Residue of Ignition
  • Talc Fill Content
  • Glass Fill Content
