Impact Testing Offers Critical Insight into Product Reliability and Safety

Impact testing gives product manufacturers a measure of a product's or part's threshold to physically and functionally withstand intense, non-repetitive shocks—either those that may be a part of normal operation or may occur in an extraordinary event that exceeds the common stresses of day-to-day use, such as vehicular collisions.

The materials testing engineers of Miami Valley Materials Testing Center (MVMTC) of Tipp City, Ohio, partner with clients to design impact testing parameters and methods that simulate any degree of force to which a material or product may be exposed. This allows clients to obtain relevant data to develop designs and select materials that will result in safer, more reliable, longer lasting products.

Impact testing measures the energy absorbed when a test piece is fractured by a high velocity force. In designing and conducting impact testing, MVMTC follows customer requirements and industrial quality standards. MVMTC is accredited in mechanical testing by the American Association of Laboratory Accreditation. This accreditation is in accordance with the recognized international ISO/IEC 17025:2005 general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories.

As a single-source provider of material and product testing services, MVMTC also offers nondestructive testing, engineering analysis, chemistry and elemental analysis, failure analysis, hardness testing, tensile testing, corrosion testing and more.

This one-stop approach to service saves impact testing clients valuable time and money as they can obtain all of their needed materials testing services at one location.

With today's concern for product safety and liability, impact testing is a critical part of any manufacturer's product design process. Resistance to impact also plays an important role in determining a product's service life and quality and has a direct bearing on customer satisfaction and repeat business.

Impact testing can be designed to determine whether a product can effectively endure the expected stresses over the duration of its anticipated lifetime. The tests will measure its durability against shock and its ability to withstand vibration at various frequencies and intensities.

With extensive experience in a broad range of industries, MVMTC's engineers are uniquely qualified to create specialized impact testing programs for clients. They offer valuable insight into the kinds of environmental hazards and standard operating stresses to which materials and products in specialized industries are typically exposed. And because of this background, our engineers are well versed in the standards of each industry.

Whatever the industry and whatever the product or material, MVMTC provides clients reliable impact testing solutions and data. Call on our engineers today to provide your impact testing needs.
